Winston's - Over Before it Began

Winston's - a new bar in the hip West Hollywood (more specifically Russian) district - is pretty much over the hill. Already.

Too much, too soon.

I'd say about 2 months ago - in the beginning of the year - it was definitely cool. Laid-back, a sprinkling of celeb sightings - lines were pretty much nonexistent thanks to the black-box look of the club. Flash-forward to the end of February and its become a "who-do-you-know" kinda place from the bouncer which is when I begin to roll my eyes and think "you've got to be kidding me."

It's become cheesy and over-dramatic and over-hyped and it under-produces (if that makes sense).

The same people own The Dime. I'm going back there - maybe I'll escape without seeing Kate Bosworth.

Downtown LA is really starting to become a hotspot.

I'm definitely into looking more into clubs and restaurants down there.. even though it is a bit of a trek. Also, the new apartment and condo buildings are amazing.

24 hour fitness

It's fucking disguisting that 24 hour Fitness gyms don't have paper towels or antibacterial spray to wipe down the machines and equipment.They also don't provide you with a towel which makes lazy people not even bother to clean up after they're done working out.

It's completely un-hygenic and makes me so angry that they have to be THAT cheap to put people's health in danger.

kickboxing fucked up my wrist

I used to kickbox with gloves & a bag and after a few months of feeling pain in my left wrist, I went to a doctor - to see what was up. Apparently I tore a ligament in my wrist.

He wanted me to get physical therapy but I didn't think it was that bad to have to do that...

Now, after lifting yesterday at the gym my wrist is fucking killing me. I'm fucking miserable right now.

Crazy Cookie Eaters

So I was in Sandbags (the sandwhich restaurant place..) today and almost got knocked over standing at the cash register because some crazy fool on a bike barged in front of me and starting yelling at the cashier because he didn't get a cookie in his bag (its Sandbags tradition to put a little chocolate chip cookie with each of their sandwhich meals). He was going ballistic over how he didn't get a cookie and how the cashier should've told him and demanded a refund and returned his custom-made sandwhich.

GET THE FUCK OVER YOURSELF AND CALM DOWN.

Underground Denim Sales

Has anyone heard of the Underground Denim Sales? Basically its a group of guys who get designer clothes and have HUGE warehouse sales for lower than wholesale prices.

It's a pretty good deal... if you can stand the psuedo-JAPS (Jewish American Princesses...) and insanely long lines.

What made me think of it is that I'm wearing a Primp sweatshirt that I snagged for about $25 a few years ago and love it!!

Best Friend vs. Boyfriend

My best friend hates my new boyfriend. I have no idea why she does (actually I think she's just jealous) but it definitely makes it hard for our group of friends to hang out.

I'm kind of in a bind and not really sure what to do... I know friends "are forever" but I really like this guy and don't want to ruin my first real boyfriend just because my friend has some stupid thing against him!!

More Allowance... PLEASE??!!

I am a Senior in college and think its absolutely ridiculous that my parents don't give me more of an allowance. I work hard to get good grades and don't have time to get a job. They don't even want me to get a job but they feel if they give me more money, I won't learn how to budget the money they already give me which they think is sufficient (and trust me, its not). Its so fucking unfair and I hate not being able to do things with my friends because of it.

If I had time for a job then I'd get one but I don't - so instead, I'm stuck here. Ranting about it on the internet. At least I can afford this site - but only because it's fucking free!

Coffee Bean vs Starbucks

Coffee Bean is way better than Starbucks.

Pinkberry is AMAZE...

Pinkberry really has revolutionized LA.

The all-natural, non-fat frozen yogurt with RIDICULOUSLY fresh toppings makes my mouth water even as I'm writing this. Yeah, for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about - it is THAT good.

Plus, the little pebbly floors are pretty cool.

It's replaced my need for an Ice Blended from Coffee Bean and has become a meeting spot for many a quick just-wanted-to-say-hi-and-catch-up-for-15-minutes-with-someone-I-don't-really-have-time-for-but-do-want-to-see kinda deal.

I Miss NYC

I went to NYU and now live in LA. I really miss the energy of NYC. I don't miss the cold though - that was brutal.

Gay marriage should be legal. It's the 21st century - the last civil rights movement was more than 40 years ago. It's time to make some more changes.

Whether the gay couple down the street from you is living together with or without a marriage certificate is no one's business but their own - and the government should not have jurisdiction over who is allowed or not allowed to be married. How does a piece of paper legally binding two people affect ANYONE else but those two people?

I eat sushi pretty much every night of the week and last night it was like 11pm on a Saturday... starving. So my friend and I are crusing around LA and end up at Wokano - a Japanese/Sushi restaurant.

IT WAS DISGUISTING.

Everyone there was Eurotrash. Oh, and the food made us all sick.

I'd rather starve late at night than go back.

Random Restaurant by Venice Beach

so my girlfriend and i went to this random restaurant near venice beach (the street its on is windward, its the last restaurant right before the boardwalk on the south side of the street) and it was the WORST experience ever.

not only was there 1 server for the entire fucking restaurant (and an incompetent one at that) but i ordered a veggie burrito and they brought out our food.. 1/2 way through the burrito - i realized there's chicken in it and im a vegetarian. it fucking disguisted me. what if i was actually allergic to chicken? the server felt no remorse but did take it off our check. so not worth it.

i will NEVER go back there again. too bad i can't remember the name. but if you go to venice beach and are looking for some eats, stay away from the wooden open-door shackle that claims to be a restaurant.

Lola's = SUCKFEST!

I just went to Lola's on Fairfax & Melrose for dinner/drinks on Friday.. and um... yeah. EW. Never again. Not only was the service embarrassingly bad but the food was beyond sub-par.

At the bar, the bartenders are so focused on their specialty martinis that they neglect every other drink ordered; thus, it takes about 12 minutes to actually get your drink after you order it.

I went to a pretty rockin' concert on Tuesday night - in LA - a band called The Hatch. Sorta Elton John meets Maroon 5. They were defintely fun to watch and the lead singer is hot. I heard he's Michael Douglas' son. I would check them out. I felt kinda bad for them because the venue wasn't packed but it was better being in the audience that way! Rock on guys!
