Work

80% of the people I work with are FUCKING MORONIC ASSHOLES who should ROT in a gutter somewhere.

I hate this place, I hate this place, I hate this place.

can anyone please explain to me why "300" made so much money?? the sets, make-up and plot were so campy and kitschy not to mention soooooooooooo bloody. ugh. where are the "annie halls" of the 2000's?

Rainforest Cafe

OH. MY. GOD.

Rainforest Cafe - that disguisting excuse for a restaurant - should be shut down. My boyfriend and I went to Disneyland this weekend (I know, you're jealous) and it was the only somewhat appetizing restaurant at Downtown Disney (ahem, this is why I hate Orange County). So after we somehow sneak past the 2-3 hour wait (we got seated in 7 minutes by some miracle.. or maybe not) we ordered watered down alcoholic drinks followed by 4-day-old shrimp cocktail. We were of course starving so we threw it down the hatch... this was then followed by something that resembled a veggie burger and he tried to scarf down an assortment of fish things - if thats what they were... IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOO ILL. Not only is the decor cheeeeeeeeesy, but the food made us both sick.

Stay far away. If you're hungry, gnaw on one of their many plastic leaves - I'm sure it'll be healthier and taste better than anything on their menu.

valet = ability to park a car?!

so i was eating at tama sushi in studio city and parked my car with the valet (which was actually the sapphire bar next door) and my car came back and the entire passanger side of the car was scratched to hell and completely dented - it was a different car than the one i dropped off!! the stupid valet wouldnt take responsibility and after a month of having a rental car and fighting with asshole, incompetent people im taking those fuckers to court!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

isn't it some sort of requirement to know how to park a car if your job is valet?

I work part-time at a place called Silver Lake Wine, a wine shop at 2395 Glendale Blvd in Silverlake known for showcasing small, boutique wineries and having incredible wines at a very affordable price (anywhere from $7.75-$2000/bottle)

what's really nice about Silver Lake Wine is that there are wine tastings three days a week:
Monday Night (5-9pm): 1 white, 2 reds with cheese from the Cheese Store of Silverlake for $12/per person
Thursday Night (5-9pm): white flight or red flight with La Brea Bakery bread and artesian butter (from $10-12/per person)
Sunday Afternoon (3:00-4:30pm): this is more like a class. by reservation, limited to about 45-50 guests. each sunday there is a new theme, and food is paired by a local chef or by a staff favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. 5 wines and food, $20/per person

Are there no competent people in LA!

So my company is in the midst of interviewing for a new assistant. We have an add on craig's list and have been getting alot of good resumes. and alot of weiiiiiiirdos! Seriously, are there any normal people in this city!!!!!!! Everyone that comes in or responds to the add is just so not right for the job whether it be their experience, style, personality, etc. Like seriously WTF! This city is huge, there's gotta be some normal people out there! And the pursuit goes on......

Fraternity?!

My fraternity is by far the best on campus. But right now the guys in my house are being douche bags - it's so fucking lame. They elected a new prez who has no idea how to run our house because the old prez went psycho and left UCLA (no one knows why...)

Sometimes, I feel like it's not even worth it. The sorority girls at UCLA aren't even that hot.

unsupportive parents

My parents just don't get me. It makes me so fucking angry that they raised me to believe that anything was possible and that I should follow my passion - and because I do that - they resent me for it... why? Because it's not THEIR passion or THEIR dreams. UUUGGGHHHHH. It's so fucked up!!! It really upsets me how unsupportive they are of my chosen career.

I know, I know - just keep doing what I'm doing and eventually they'll see I'm right. But in the meantime... ouch.

Lover Not A Fighter?

Have a little poll - I have some guy friends who think that girls like a guy who gets into fights all the time. Personally, I hate that shit and think it's so annoying when your man tries to act all macho and starts stupid drunk bar fights. There is a time and a place for fighting - like say someone was talking shit about me, ok boyfriend go ahead and beat some ass! But otherwise, a night of nursing your wounds is not what girls envision their nights turning out to be.

St Patty's Day Weekend

I hope everyone had a great St. Patty's Day weekend!! Went to the bar on Friday and met the most beautiful man I have ever seen. My friend had a party on Saturday and basically ate everything is sight! (Plus hottie from Friday night came over :* ) But now it's time to join Britney in Promises! Total detox until my friend's wedding in April! Let's just see if I can make it! Next saturday I might have to drink b/c Im going to a concert with my girlies........but otherwise ive got to be a good girl!! No drinking, smoking, gotta work out and eat healthy.....Who is with me!!!

Where are the normal people in the world?

so the company i work for is looking to hire a new assistant and we keep getting these semi-decent resumes. of course, the natural next step is to look these people up on myspace. well, we're learning thats probably not the best way to go since clearly we judge and don't give these b-list potentials a chance.

i guess what im trying to say is: you never know who is looking at your myspace page - so keep it cool and take those fugly, cheesy pics down if you wanna get hired. for reals, i bet other companies do this too.

ugh - where are all the normal people??!!!! my boss just wants someone nice, cool, funny, hip. all we've gotten is wierd, trashy, cheesy and plain boooorrrriinnng.

we'll find who we're looking for - but maybe we'll just stop stalking them pre-interview and see how they can redeem themselves from their probably lame-o resumes.

Luna Park in LA (on Labrea & Wilshire) is a great restaurant (perfect date spot) - their tuna "poke" with crispy wontons appetizer is amazing. Lots of street parking and its not scene-y at all.

Asshole Yuppie Lawyer in West Hollywood

Beware.

There is a complete piece of shit lawyer running around town with the initials R.R. He lives in West Hollywood adj. (closer to Runyon, really) and he's in his early 30's. He acts like a ridiculously nice guy which redeems the fact that he's not that cute - but let me tell you - he's not!! We started talking because he is a lawyer and my dad is a judge and he has been in my dad's court!!! I actually liked him until I realized that just because a guy asks for a phone number doesn't mean he's going to use it.

Long story short... the asshole lawyer never called and I don't really care because now I have a boyfriend whose about a million times better and clearly more normal than R.R.

I just wanted to post this for girls running around places like Jones and St. Nicks.

Forever 21

Forever 21 has the worst fucking return policy ever. I tried to exchange something there - not return, EXCHANGE - and because I didn't have a receipt they wouldn't let me. Are you fucking kidding me?

I guess thats how they make all their money - with their crappy return/exchange policy, forcing customers to keep everything they buy unless they return the item within 21 days with a receipt at which time all they can get is store credit.

Labrea & Wilshire Blockbuster

the blockbuster on labrea and wilshire is the most heinous experience ever. there were 5 million people waiting in line with only 2 people working on a fucking saturday night.. not to mention the obnoxious, overbearing moms telling their kids they have to pay for the difference between a video game and a dvd because they were only allotted $10 (i guess you had to be there but this mom was gross)... after waiting in line for 20 minutes (which we had to settle on a movie because they were out of all the good ones) i told them i didn't have my card but offered my ID - well apparently, not all blockbusters are connected so i had to fill out another fucking form so they could issue me a card to use at that location. too bad cuz i'm never going back.

ADHD Drug Use Triples in 10 YEARS

A study just came out that said the use of ADHD drugs has tripled from 1993-2003. I'm guessing kids aren't being produced with a smaller attention span... something tells me it has to do with things that sound like PSP and the like. Just a hunch.

It's pathetic that America resorts to drugs to fix a problem doctors deem as a chemical imbalance in kids' brains when really, it comes down to them wanting to play video games and watch tv over doing their homework... and you know what, I don't blame them.

AIM upgrade

the new AIM got me into so much trouble. i was IM-ing with a co-worker about another girl in our office... and even when you close the IM box - the conversation is remembered and pops up onto the screen. oops.

The Submarines @ El Rey 3/1

I saw The Submarines at El Rey this past Thursday, 3/1 and they were amazing. Two people make up the band - oh, and lets not forget their back-up.. ahem, a powerbook G-4. The band is composed of a couple who broke up, wrote songs about each other and got back together - and voila - The Submarines were born.

If you like The Shins, Death Cab for Cutie or have a liking to The O.C. soundtrack mixes 1-6 (or whatever they ended on) then you have to check them out.

The girl in the group is truly talented - her boyfriend aka band-mate absolutely complements her, but she is the true shining star amongst the pair!

As for El Rey - eh, not impressed with the venue. I don't think there should be seats in the front of the theatre - it should be all standing room except for the left and right sides where there are big round tables.

Either way, check them out. They deserve it.

Perez Hilton @ Pinkberry 3/4

I saw Perez Hilton at Pinkberry on Sunday, March 4th. It was the Labrea & Melrose location.

Great way to end the weekend - with a b-list celeb who rags on other b-list (and a-list) celebs!! How fun. And the yogurt was pretty tasty too!

Whitestarr Concert 2/25

The Whitestarr concert at the Roxy in LA on 2/25 was fucking awesome. I felt like it was really short though.

Tony Potato performed (a band member.. sorta) which was really pathetic cuz he was basically giving a lecture about how if you smoke cigarettes you'll die.

Beardo performed - he was really scary and came out with nylons and he was pretty sucky too.

Shwayze (who is the only black kid in Malibu) was amazing. Cisco got on stage and sang with him - awesome melody.

After the show, everyone went upstairs to On the Rox, the band was up there and if I'm not mistaken, Cisco bought me a tequila shot. Or maybe not. But I know someone did.

Overall - pretty rockin.

The Dime

The Dime (on Fairfax) is a great bar with a cool vibe. It's the parent to the new-overhyped Winston's which is close by. The Dime has a great mix of people - not too trendy but definitely cool. I just wish there was a little more space. They play great music.

It also has a NY feel which is awesome.

Cabana

Cabana - a club in Hollywood - used to be so fucking hot. Now its so cheesy and filled with typical B-list-celeb-hangers-on. Ew. No club in LA can last for more than 18 months.

Crazy Co-worker

OMIGOD. I work for a designer and its a pretty small company... my boss just hired someone new and we all thought she was nice, maybe a little too uptight but whatever - not a big deal, right? Wrong. So wrong.

After less than a month of working at the company, we realized she's a fucking PSYCHO and made up a ton of lies, manipulated people and became the face of Tattle-Tale Central. Are we 5? Oh, and she would come to work in a fucking suit. I wear jeans, sometimes sweats so as you can imagine - she was a wee-bit over-dressed.

Anyways, my boss fired the bitch yesterday.

Good riddance.

If you ever come across a girl who's tall and lanky, with dark brown hair who wears a lot of red - stay away. I'm going to refrain from using her name, but we all know who you are.
